How the search matches
Queries arrive in three different forms and all of them have to work. Devanagari is matched directly. Romanized Nepali is folded first — diacritics stripped, doubled vowels collapsed — so pāni, paani and pani are treated as the same string. English is matched against the headword and the gloss.
If nothing matches exactly, the search falls back to edit distance, with a tolerance that scales to the length of what you typed. Short queries are not fuzzed at all, because at three letters almost everything is one edit from everything else.
You can also browse the full dictionary, type Nepali with the Nepali typing tool, or see every page on the site.
