How to use the output
- Paste your Nepali Unicode text into the left box.
- Copy the Preeti result.
- Paste it into your document and set the font to Preeti. Until you do, it will look like Latin nonsense — that is expected.
- Check the result visually before printing. A handful of rare conjuncts have no Preeti equivalent.
When this direction is the one you want
Most of the time you should be converting the other way, from Preeti to Unicode, because Unicode is searchable, portable and works on phones. This tool exists for the cases where the destination is fixed and legacy: a press that only accepts Preeti files, an old InDesign template, a form that a ministry office will not redesign.
If you are choosing freely, choose Unicode. Preeti is a compatibility format, not a target.
Frequently asked questions
Why would anyone still need Preeti?
Print shops, some newspaper layout desks and a number of government offices still run templates built around Preeti. If you are handing work to one of them, they may ask for Preeti rather than Unicode.
Will the Preeti output look right on my screen?
Only if the Preeti font is installed. Without it the output looks like random Latin letters — which is exactly what Preeti text is.
Is this conversion lossless?
Mostly. Unicode can express combinations Preeti has no glyph for, so a few rare clusters will not survive the trip. Always check the result before sending it to print.
